Black Mesa Trust to hold 3rd Annual Water Fair (KYKOTSMOVI, Ariz., October 22, 2004) Black Mesa Trust will hold its 3rd Annual Water Fair on November 5, 2004 at the Hopi Veterans' Memorial Center in Kykotsmovi, Arizona from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Building on the success of its two previous Water Fairs, Black Mesa Trust will offer a day of educational activities and demonstrations about water and its importance to our everyday lives and how we must care for it. Many hands-on activities will help children, teachers, and parents learn about water, land, and cultural issues that affect their lives in the short and long term and how they can make a positive difference. Door prizes, snacks, and guest speakers will make this a fun-filled day for all. Black Mesa Trust is a grassroots organization dedicated to preserving the N-aquifer for future generations of Hopi and Navajo children. The N-aquifer, the single source of drinking water on the Hopi Reservation and the source of springs and seeps crucial to Hopi ceremonial and religious life, is threatened by Peabody Coal's abuse of 4,400 acre feet a year of water to slurry coal from Black Mesa Mine to the Mohave Generating Station in Laughlin, Nevada. Call (928) 213-9009 or (928) 734-9255 or visit www.BlackMesaTrust.org for more information. |
